Job Title:<ul><li>Staff Accountant at Metro Elevator</li></ul>Location: <ul><li>265 High Street, Fl 6, Morgantown, WV 26505 - This is primarily an in-office role, but hybrid flexibility is possible after training and demonstrated proficiency.</li></ul>Overview:At Metro Elevator, our accounting team ensures accuracy, consistency, and confidence in every number we report. We're looking for a Staff Accountant who is detail-oriented, analytical, and passionate about delivering timely, accurate financial information across multiple Metro divisions.This role is ideal for someone who thrives on organization and collaboration - supporting our accounting processes, maintaining balance sheet integrity, and ensuring compliance across entities. You'll play an important part in our month-end close process, reconciliations, and reporting functions while working closely with both divisional teams and leadership.Employment Status/Expectations:<ul><li>Full Time</li></ul>Key Responsibilities (including, but not limited to):Core Accounting Duties<ul><li>Reconcile bank accounts and balance sheet accounts for Metro Elevator divisions. </li><li>Assist divisions with accounting support and resolving complex transactional issues.</li><li>Prepare and post month-end journal entries, including: unearned prepaid expenses, paid vs. worked days, interest earned, depreciation, bonus accruals, and holiday accruals</li><li>Ensure accurate and timely month-end close by maintaining checklists, identifying discrepancies early, and coordinating with divisional teams to resolve issues.</li><li>Maintain organized workpapers and supporting documentation for internal review and audit.</li></ul>Collaboration and Reporting<ul><li>Work closely with the Assistant Controller to ensure all accounting deadlines, deliverables, and reporting requirements are met.</li><li>Partner with Metro division administrative teams to promote consistency, enforce accounting policies, and maintain uniform processes across all Metro entities.</li><li>Support both internal and external audits by preparing schedules, reconciliations, and responding to auditor inquiries.</li><li>Assist in compiling monthly and quarterly financial reporting packages for management review.</li><li>Contribute to process improvement initiatives, identifying opportunities to automate or streamline accounting workflows.</li></ul>Qualifications / Skills & Competencies:<ul><li>Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (required)</li><li>1–4 years of experience in accounting, bookkeeping, or accounting operations</li></ul><ul><li>Strong understanding of general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and month-end close.</li></ul><ul><li>Experience with reconciliations and journal entries</li><li>Proficiency in Excel (comfortable working in spreadsheets daily)</li><li>Self-motivated, trainable, and eager to learn</li></ul><ul><li>Experience supporting multiple entities or business units</li><li>Familiarity with accounting systems and expense management tools</li><li>Organized and deadline-driven</li></ul><ul><li>High attention to detail and accuracy.</li><li>Strong organizational and time management skills.</li><li>Collaborative mindset and clear communication skills.</li></ul>Compensation and Benefits:<ul><li>Salary commensurate with qualifications</li><li>Health, dental and vision insurance</li><li>Paid time off</li><li>401k plan with employer matching contribution</li></ul>Equal Opportunity Employer:<ul><li>Metro Elevator is committed to providing reasonable accommodation as an Equal Opportunity Employer to applicants with disabilities. SUMMARYModel risk management (MRM) refers to the overseeing of risk defined by potential adverse consequences from decisions based on incorrect or misused models. MRM aims to employ techniques, practices, or behaviors that will identify, measure, and mitigate model risk across the Bank - the potential of model error or wrongful model usage.The MRM Senior Analyst will support the SVP MRM Officer in the implementation and execution of Bank-wide MRM policies, standards, and procedures, including model validation, model governance, and performance monitoring in conformance with regulatory guidance. The MRM Senior Analyst will attend and participate in meetings with the SVP MRM Officer and Senior Bank Management.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. • Evaluates the conceptual soundness of model specifications, the reasonableness of assumptions, and the reliability of inputs, the completeness of testing performed to support the correctness of the implementation, the robustness of numerical aspects, the suitability and comprehensiveness of performance metrics and risk measures associated with the use of models.
• Assesses and measures the potential impact of model limitations, parameter estimation error, or deviations from model assumptions, compares model outputs with empirical evidence and/or outputs from model benchmarks.
• Documents and presents observations to SVP MRM Officer and to model owners and users, recommends management action plans, and tracks remediation progress.
• Evaluates and monitors model performance reports on an on-going basis to ensure models remain valid, and contributes to the Bank-wide model risk and control assessment.
• Provides on-demand support during regulatory exams of MRM and periodic reviews performed by Internal Audit.
• Engages in continued education through the companys internal training webinars.
