Duties and Responsibilities: Site preparation clearing debris, leveling ground, digging trenches, and backfilling holes, Loading and unloading construction materials like concrete, rebar, and lumber onto the worksite, Assisting in building and dismantling scaffolding and temporary support structures, Preparing forms for concrete pouring, mixing concrete, and assisting with concrete placement, Using shovels, rakes, picks, and other hand tools for excavation and cleanup, Operating power tools like jackhammers, saws, and drills as needed, Signaling heavy equipment operators to ensure safe movement of materials, Assisting with setting up and maintaining traffic control devices, Safety compliance: Following all safety protocols including wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE), Assist with the setup, operation and maintenance of message/arrow boards, Repairs guardrails, makes forms, pours concrete, and cleans and paints highway structures, Patches and replaces concrete, bituminous, and wood floors on bridges, Installs and replaces corroded structural steel on highway structure, Required to work extended hours including evenings, nights, and weekends, Additional duties as assigned. Working Conditions: Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds continuously throughout the workday, Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, reach, squat, and twist, throughout the workday, This includes frequently walking on sloped ground and slippery and uneven surfaces, This position requires the ability to stand for extended periods of time and the constant use of hands and arms, This job requires the ability to see, whether naturally or with vision correction tools (e.g., glasses, contact lenses), Performing strenuous work for extended periods in varying temperatures, humidity, wind, and other inclement weather conditions, Work may be performed in environments with exposure to extremely hot materials, fuel, fumes, vapors, dust, grease and oils, as well as loud and/or constant noise and moving equipment.
