<h4>Overview</h4><p>American Management Association (www.amanet.org), a world leader in professional talent development, is looking for a <strong>Payroll Specialist </strong>in Saranac Lake, NY.  The Payroll Specialist will ensure complete and accurate processing of bi-weekly payrolls, by performing administrative and bookkeeping tasks and applying accepted payroll procedures in preparing and maintaining payroll records..</p><h4>Responsibilities</h4><ul><li><p>Maintain accurate payroll records and ensure accurate compensation payments due to all employees, net of authorized withholdings and deductions</p></li><li> Maintain employee master records and directories captured in payroll system in a highly confidential and accurate manner</li><li> Process Payrolls through third-party provider</li><li> Prepare journal entries to accrue and report proper employee payroll costs </li><li> Prepare ad hoc reporting to satisfy requests for payroll data using payroll system report writers</li><li> Oversee the quarterly and annual Payroll tax returns and compliance reporting, including accurate W-2 reporting</li><li> Review timecard reporting submitted by employees and supervisors for completeness and appropriateness of entries</li><li> Maintain automated PTO records for all employees</li><li> Prepare and submit various deductions, such as retirement contributions, mass transit, FSA elections, and garnishments, to appropriate agencies according to schedules</li><li> Reconcile multiple Balance Sheet and P&L accounts related to Payroll transactions</li><li> Prepare and provide reports and analysis to auditors during annual financial statement audit and 403b audit</li><li> Train new hires and colleagues on appropriate timecard procedures</li><li> Participate in projects relating to Payroll</li><li> Author and maintain process and procedure documentation for key functions</li><li> Assist the HR department with the maintenance of company policies to ensure compliance with applicable state and federal laws</li><li> Provide coverage within the Finance department as needed</li><li> Other duties as assigned</li></ul><h4>Qualifications</h4><ul><li>2-year Degree in Business field plus 2 years of relevant Payroll experience OR 4 year degree in Business</li><li>Knowledge of basic bookkeeping and financial transactions</li><li>Familiarity with ADP preferred</li><li>Above-average MS Excel skills</li><li>Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while multitasking and maintaining accuracy</li><li>Attention to detail and organizational abilities </li><li>Ability to work under pressure of meeting multiple time and volume deadlines</li><li>Demonstrated problem solving skills</li><li>Proven performance in a team environment</li><li>Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and external parties</li><li>Reliability and strong work ethic</li><li>Ability to exercise good judgment</li><li>Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform tasks</li><li>Works under general supervision</li><li>Certain degree of creativity and latitude is required</li></ul><p> </p><p><strong>More about American Management Association:</strong></p><p> </p><p>AMA’s approach to improving performance combines experiential learning—learning through doing—with opportunities for ongoing professional growth at every step of one’s career journey.
