Rockefeller Cancer Institute at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) is seeking an energetic and innovative Bioinformatician to serve as Director of our Bioinformatics Shared Resource. This position provides leadership and subject matter expertise for the Institute’s entire research enterprise. The new Director will assemble and oversee a team of bioinformaticians that support cancer institute members in experimental design and in producing high-quality analysis and data output using the latest bioinformatics pipelines to support publications and extramural funding.</p><p>The Director of the Bioinformatics Shared Resource is appointed by the Director of the Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute and collaborates closely with the Associate Director of Shared Resources. The Bioinformatician will hold a faculty position in the College of Medicine. Candidates must be eligible for an academic appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor or higher, possess a PhD or equivalent degree, and have a documented research track record evidenced by peer-reviewed publications in high-impact journals and/or extramural funding. Applicants should be able to work effectively in a team environment. The position offers access to substantial resources, including a multi-year financial package to support the Bioinformatics Shared Resource.</p><p>This recruitment is supported by significant institutional resources and Arkansas’s commitment to the Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute’s goal of attaining NCI Designation. The Cancer Institute is Arkansas’s only cancer center with a comprehensive research portfolio and a mission to improve cancer outcomes statewide. Its 170+ members conduct research across Cancer Therapeutics, Cancer Biology, and Cancer Prevention & Population Sciences. The Institute annually receives approximately $20 million in extramural cancer research funding.
