Ability design, develop, and maintain centralized and networked computer systems; to develop and implement directives, policies, and procedures; to analyze user needs and develop automated solutions; to communicate effectively with City staff, elected and appointed officials, contractors, service providers, consultants, and the public; to negotiate and administer contracts; to provide supervision and coordinate the work of other professionals; to collect and analyze information, and to draw valid conclusions; to understand, interpret, and apply fairly complex network configurations and applications, and appropriate rules, regulations, and procedures; and to establish and maintain cooperative relationships with those contacted in the course of work. Serves as system administrator; analyzes requirements and designs/modifies wide area and local area computer network systems; oversees network administration; monitors systems to assure proper operations; assures maintenance of computer system inventory; generates computer reports; adds/deletes users; schedules backups.
