HF Sinclair is seeking a Manager, Refinery Accounting, to be based in Artesia, NM.  In this role, you will oversee and direct the local refinery accounting department, which includes aspects of Accounts Receivable/Payable, Operations Accounting, Yield Reconciliation, Fixed Assets, Financial Reporting, and Inventory Movements.Job Duties<ul><li>Assists in the development of Sarbanes Oxley and other applicable compliance procedures</li><li>Ensures assigned accounting department is accurately tracking and recording data reported to all areas of the company</li><li>Supervises and completes special projects as required</li><li>Develops, analyzes and/or generates reports for plant management to review such as actual vs. budgets and capital expenditures</li><li>Reviews, analyzes and develops solutions for problems and variances arising within the department</li><li>Reviews crude or product inventories</li><li>Manage inventories, project accounting, and general accounting in the assigned area.</li><li> Coordinate with auditors regarding refinery accounting issues.</li><li>Responsible for ensuring that all refinery general ledger account balances are accurate and complete by (1) keeping up with day-to-day accounting transactions within the refinery to identify and capture any accounting impact and (2) processing monthly recurring journal entries related to energy consumption, royalty amortization, etc.</li><li>Define and guide refinery transaction processes to ensure consistency and proper accounting treatment</li><li>Reviews and/or performs certain fixed asset/project accounting functions</li><li>Assists preparation of studies, reports, and analyses in areas such as governmental requirements and statistical reports, Soloman studies, and internal/ external audit reporting</li><li>Maintains all required reporting work papers for Sarbanes Oxley compliance</li><li>Assists final consolidation and close in SAP</li><li>Reviews work related to accounts payable, liquid balance reporting, exchange reconciliation, pipeline transaction reporting and inventory reporting</li><li>Formulates procedures and policies, researching and enhancing the current Refinery accounting policies as needed, and administering approved accounting practices for assigned location</li><li>Oversees expense control and reporting, expense budgeting, analysis including variance explanations, cost control, cost control flashes and waste reduction</li></ul>Special assignments or tasks assigned to the employee by their supervisor, as determined from time to time in their sole and complete discretion.ExperienceA minimum of 10 years of on-the-job experience is required.Preferred Experience5 years of industry experience is preferred.Education LevelA minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field is required.Preferred Education LevelA Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting is preferred.Required SkillsAbility to lead and direct the work of other senior associates.
