Johns Hopkins established its first transplant program, kidney and pancreas, in 1968, followed by heart (1983), liver (1986), and lung (1994) - nearly six decades of transplant care that have made the CTC a national leader in transplant clinical care, research, and education, with world-renowned transplant specialists and clinician-scientists and particular strength in living donor and recipient care and novel procedures including robotic transplantation. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer of The Johns Hopkins Hospital, the CAO provides enterprise leadership across the transplant patient journey and serves as a key advisor to senior JHH and JHHS leaders on strategy, performance, growth, resource requirements, operational risk, technology, and innovation.
