Key Responsibilities:HR Strategy & Organizational LeadershipDevelop and execute the company's overall HR strategy in alignment with business objectivesServe as a strategic advisor to executive leadership on organizational design, workforce planning, and talent strategyBuild and scale HR programs, policies, and infrastructure to support company growthLead and develop the HR function, ensuring clarity of roles, accountability, and high performanceEmployee Lifecycle ManagementOversee and optimize the full employee lifecycle, including hiring, onboarding, development, and offboardingEstablish scalable processes to ensure consistent and high-quality employee experienceEnsure accurate and compliant employee records and documentation practicesEmployee Relations & Performance ManagementProvide strategic oversight of employee relations, including complex investigations and high-risk situationsGuide and support leaders in managing performance, accountability, and team effectivenessDesign and lead performance management frameworks, including reviews, feedback systems, and development planningEstablish best practices for conflict resolution and escalation managementCompliance & Risk ManagementEnsure organizational compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws, including OSHA and Washington L&I requirementsOversee the development and maintenance of employee handbook, policies, and proceduresLead risk management efforts related to employees, including investigations and mitigation strategiesPartner with operational leadership to ensure alignment on workplace safety and complianceCompensation & Benefits StrategyLead compensation strategy, including structure, benchmarking, and planning in partnership with executive leadershipOversee and approve compensation changes, ensuring internal equity and market competitivenessOwn all benefits programs end-to-end, including vendor management, renewals, plan design, and complianceLead benefits administration, including employee communication, enrollment, and issue resolutionEvaluate and optimize benefits offerings to remain competitive and cost-effectiveCulture, Engagement, & DevelopmentDefine and drive initiatives that strengthen company culture, employee engagement, and retentionPartner with Talent Acquisition & Engagement Manager to align hiring and engagement strategies with organizational goalsOversee employee recognition, engagement programs, and internal communications strategiesEstablish and support leadership development and training programs across the organizationHR Programs & Systems OversightEnsure HR processes are scalable, documented, and consistently executed across the organizationOversee HR systems (including ADP) to ensure data accuracy, reporting capabilities, and operational efficiencyEstablish metrics and reporting to track HR performance and inform decision-makingMaintain data integrity, confidentiality, and compliance across all HR systemsEssential Skills:Required:Minimum 10+ years of progressive HR experience, including 5+ years in a leadership roleStrong knowledge of employment law, compliance, and risk management, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environmentDemonstrated ability to develop and execute HR strategy aligned with business objectivesProven experience managing benefits programs and vendor relationships directlyProven experience advising and influencing senior leadershipStrong leadership, organizational, and change-management skillsExcellent interpersonal and written/verbal communication skillsAbility to manage complex, sensitive situations with discretion and sound judgmentProven ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, evolving environmentStrong collaboration skills with a team-oriented mindsetPreferred:Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related fieldExperience in shipbuilding, ship repair, or industrial manufacturing environmentsExperience scaling HR functions in a growing organizationCertifications / Licenses:SHRM-SCP, PHR, SPHR or equivalent HR leadership certification requiredWork Environment & Physical Requirements:This position is based in an office within an active boatyard and requires regular visits to vessels and production areas.
