The STAR Clinician provides comprehensive assessment, crisis intervention, individual and family therapy, psychoeducation, case management, care coordination, person-centered treatment planning, and recovery support designed to reduce substance use, improve family functioning, strengthen natural supports, and prevent hospitalization, residential placement, juvenile justice involvement, or other out-of-home placements. The identified youth serve as the primary recipient of clinical services; however, treatment is delivered through a family-centered approach that actively engages parents, caregivers, natural supports, schools, juvenile justice, medical providers, and other community stakeholders to promote lasting recovery and healthy family functioning.
