Promotes a culture of safety, holding self and staff accountable for patient safety issues including, but not limited to; timely, complete, and accurate communication of patient information, informed consent, patient’s preference for life-sustaining treatment, DVT/VTE prevention, prevention of falls, pressure ulcers prevention, catheter-related infections, and hand hygiene. Assumes management and clinical responsibilities for delivering quality care throughout the nursing departments in the absence of Nurse Managers/Directors, recognizing when it is appropriate to notify Nursing Leadership, Senior Leadership, Administrator On-Call, and /or other resource personnel.
