Key Responsibilities: Perform pre-procedure patient assessments, including review of medical history and physical evaluation Position patients appropriately for procedures and ensure proper placement of ECG leads and monitoring equipment Assist physicians throughout procedures, including support with catheters, guidewires, balloons, stents, structural heart devices, and other interventions Operate and observe hemodynamic monitoring systems, identifying and responding to changes in cardiac rhythms and pressure waveforms Support arterial and/or venous sheath removal using manual pressure, closure devices, or mechanical compression, and transport patients to recovery areas Continuously monitor vital signs, ECG readings, and hemodynamic data during procedures Provide post-procedure care by observing patient recovery and facilitating transition to the next level of care Ensure cath lab equipment is properly maintained, functional, and adequately stocked; troubleshoot issues as needed Communicate clearly and effectively with physicians, team members, patients, and families to ensure coordinated care Follow all safety practices, infection prevention measures, and regulatory requirements Complete additional duties within the RN scope of practice as assigned Required Skills and Qualifications: Strong critical thinking, customer service mindset, and effective interpersonal communication skills Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English Ability to understand written instructions, follow verbal directions, and utilize basic computer systems Physical capability to remain stationary for extended periods, move throughout the department, and lift or move equipment weighing 50–100 lbs, including pushing, pulling, and bending Ability to work collaboratively with diverse healthcare staff while maintaining professionalism and a positive attitude Fine motor coordination and dexterity required for assisting with procedures and handling specialized equipment Capacity to manage frequent interactions with patients and the public while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced setting Ability to work both independently and under occasional supervision Flexibility to handle variable schedules and maintain sustained attention to detail Adequate visual acuity and communication ability to safely perform job responsibilities Summary: The Cath Lab Registered Nurse delivers specialized nursing care to patients undergoing cardiac catheterization and interventional cardiology procedures.
