Find a high-paying job hiring now.

If you're looking to make a lot of money (and really, who doesn’t?), your job title and location are two major factors that'll contribute to a big paycheck. Although salary shouldn't always be the main factor for choosing a job, the fact is, some jobs in certain places just pay better than others.

Where should you live and what job should you have if you want to make money like a boss? Recently, personal finance site GOBankingRates researched the highest-paying jobs in each state, using data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. And get this: They’re all health care jobs.

In fact, only 10 different jobs appear on the list: anesthesiologist, surgeon, OBGYN, oral and maxillofacial surgeon, orthodontist, physician, pediatrician, internist, dentist, and podiatrist. Anesthesiologist is the highest-paying job in the most states, appearing 16 times on the list, followed by surgeons, which appear 12 times on the list.

Salaries are affected by experience, specialty, and location. For example, a pediatrician salary in New York City is 2% higher than the national median; an internist salary in Seattle is 1% higher than the national median; and a surgeon salary in St. Paul, Minnesota, is 3% higher than the national median.

If you thought you'd rake in the dough in states like New York or California, you'd be surprised to know that orthodontists in Alabama make the most money, hauling in $289,740 per year. They’re followed by oral and maxillofacial surgeons in Florida ($288,459 per year), surgeons in Maine ($287,030 per year), surgeons in Delaware ($286,400 per year), and anesthesiologists in North Dakota ($286,250 per year), which make up the top five highest-paying jobs.
