Essential Duties and Responsibilities The essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to: • Performs monthly preventive maintenance on roof systems to clear debris and proactively identify service issues • Makes routine repairs to roofing systems • Prepares and paints interior and exterior surfaces • Chooses materials, selects and matches paint colors, removes old paint, cleans, fills, and primes surfaces • Applies paint and/or stain • Demonstrates keen knowledge of color theory to advise customers and achieve the appearance the customer desires • Levels and ensures integrity of subfloors • Uses commercial scraping machines, tile cutters, heating torches, pry bars, and various hand tools to remove existing flooring substrates • Applies knowledge of commercial flooring for installation and repair of various floor types including VCT, sheet good carpets, carpet square tiles, ceramic tile, and linoleum • Assists with material estimates and selection based on use/wear requirements • Uses, and performs operator maintenance on, tools and equipment common to the trade • Completes daily work orders which include but are not limited to: • Performing preventive maintenance and making adjustments to commercial doors, roll-up doors and openers, interior and exterior painting as needed, installing wall hangings such as dry-erase boards, door glass replacement, as well as escorting outside contractors doing work at Forsyth County facilities • Participates in special projects and general maintenance and making repairs to building facilities • Assists Skilled Trades Specialists in completing tasks and responsibilities • Performs related work as required. Specific examples of work include: • Roof inspection and repair • Glass replacement • Wall repairs and painting • Cabinet making and millwork • Welding repairs of various types • Construction of offices and other needed spaces The construction includes: • Wall framework • Sheetrock installation • Ceiling grid and tile installation • Various flooring system installations.
