Entrepreneur Resume Sample

Play up your certitude and self-starter ethos, while providing hard numbers and real-deal achievements.

When you have a tenacious work ethic, unshakeable passion, and a certain clarity of vision, you’ve got what it takes to become a successful entrepreneur. Yes, you know a good bit about economics and market dynamics too, but that unstoppable triumvirate of qualities is really what makes up the magic potion. So, how do you properly convey this on an entrepreneur resume for someone like you who’s constantly on the up-and-up?

Start off by following these guidelines:

  • Steve Jobs advised to not be “trapped by dogma—which is living with the results of other people’s thinking.” And while you shouldn’t come off as strictly a naysayer, your entrepreneur professional summary and accomplishments should relay some of your non-conformist approaches (and your unabashed belief in yourself).
  • Talk numbers. Did you raise a mill during a first round of funding? Mention that, and show how you did it too.
  • Uncannily, you can foresee things before they happen. Or you make them happen. Right? So speak to that. As Peter Drucker brilliantly said, “The best way to predict the future is to create it.”
  • Your distinct individualism has been a big part of your success, but no one wants to work with an impenetrable lone wolf. And you need others. So your entrepreneur resume should rather show how you’re a rare bird, whose market clairvoyance has consistently put you several steps ahead of the competition—and how you’re always able to assemble and lead the right team for your business purposes too.
  • What’s your trademark style? Discuss your originality in business. And if there are any implementations or product launches you’ve overseen that disrupted an industry or even generated a new niche or market, do expound on that.

So don’t hold back. An entrepreneur doesn’t need to be modest. But don’t be arrogant either. Confidence, stats, and conviction are the keyways to assert yourself here.
