Nurse Manager Resume Sample

Your resume is where nursing and management come together.

By Kathleen Walder, Monster Contributor

As a nurse manager, you need to be both a sharp department manager and a well-experienced nurse. You can connect the dots between patient care and outcomes with nursing practices while keeping a facility running smoothly and on budget. Your nurse manager resume needs to reflect your experience and effectiveness in both of these disciplines.

This is a lot to include in one resume. It’s important that you balance the information, the same way you juggle the responsibilities on the job. Your first step is to create a professional summary to place at the top of your resume under your name and contact information. The short paragraph gives you an opportunity to show how you blend the two roles. You get points for stating how you know one role impacts the other.

Next is making sure you list all the job skills that are relevant to the position. In the sample below, the first time you do this is under the professional summary. Make it a clean list of words or short phrases either in columns or a running list separated by dots, dashes, or pipes. Work that list of skills and those mentioned in the job posting into your job history descriptions as well.
