Interpreter Resume Sample
Whether you are pursuing a freelance career or seeking traditional employment, working on your interpreter resume is very important and can truly make the difference in whether you're considered for a job. It’s not a secret that many companies use applicant tracking software (ATS) to organize and filter applicants’ resumes, putting the best ones on top of the pile to manually review and the worst at the bottom. Moreover, most recruiters spend less than 10 seconds deciding if your resume is worth a more careful read.
Many professionals who have all the right qualifications to get the job often end up rejected due to an unoptimized interpreter resume. Don’t let that happen to you! Take the time to tailor your resume to each job you apply to, make sure key information is quick and easy to find, and that your format and grammar are flawless.
If you’ve been working as an interpreter for many years and with many clients, listing every single experience and task you’ve performed could result in a very long resume. The ideal length is one to two pages so, to avoid going overboard with your content, you should remove any redundant information and focus on your key accomplishments and core skills.
If, on the other hand, you don’t have a lot of experience but still need to make your resume attractive and optimized for the job, you can enhance existing sections or create new ones. For example, you can add more information about your education, the subjects you studied, and your best grades. If you did any unpaid work, list it in a volunteering section. As you would with any paid work experience, write about the skills you developed, the main tasks you performed, and the accomplishments you achieved.
Always send both a DOC and PDF format of your resume as the ATS can’t always read other formats. Remember that you can always link your website, portfolio, or an extended version of your resume if you want to give the reader even more information about you, your experience, and skills.
