Bartender Cover Letter Example

Get tips on writing a cover letter that gets you interview invitations.

When you’re ready to serve up your application package for that perfect bartending job opening, be sure your bartender cover letter fits the bill. Mix a brief overview of your experience with proof you’ve done your homework on the establishment.

Three attention-getters you should always include in your cover letter are:

  • Add proof that you’ve done your research: If you’ve been a patron of the bar where you’re applying, make sure the hiring manager knows. If not, check out their ads and reviews on Google, Yelp, and Travel Advisor to learn more about their atmosphere and clientele.
  • Explain how your skills relate to the job: Talk about how your training, certification, and previous job experience are all relevant to the job. If you’ve taken one of the credible online courses like BarSmarts, talk about what you learned. You might also say you want to or have planned to take the class.
  • Show your excitement about the position: You can’t be too enthusiastic. You can say anything from a very polite, “I would be honored to work here,” to a more effusive, “This is exactly what I’ve been looking for!”

Mr. Woody Boyd
Senior Recruiter
ABC Bar & Restaurant
555 Main St.
Honolulu, HI 55555

Dear Mr. Boyd:

As a devoted customer and fan of ABC Bar & Restaurant, I would jump at the chance to join your team. I applied for the bartender position as soon as I saw your job posting.

As a hospitality industry veteran, I have 10 years of experience as a barback and bartender in luxury 4-star hotels and 5-diamond resorts. For the past three years, I have served as an on-call bartender at DEF Restaurant, a Michelin 3-star-rated gourmet restaurant and lounge within GHI Hotel. Previously at XYZ Resort, I was promoted from barback to bartender, primarily working at the poolside bar.

During my tenure with both employers, supervisors repeatedly praised me for my commitment to providing exceptional customer service. I have demonstrated the ability to thrive within busy environments that require a high level of efficiency.

I also earned a reputation as a mixology master with an encyclopedic knowledge of classic and trendy cocktail recipes (from Alabama Slammers to Zombie’s Brews and everything in between).

I am well-versed in luxury service standards and liquor laws and hold current state- and county-issued Food Handlers and Liquor Cards and TIPSÒ certification. Additional qualifications include:

  • Performing opening and closing duties.
  • Completing sales reports and bar inventories.
  • Maintaining a clean, safe, and positive work environment.

Although I’m successful in my current bartending role, the on-call nature of the position gives me fewer hours than I would like. I am interested in securing a full-time bartender position in a luxury resort.

I have been a regular guest at ABC Bar & Restaurant for years. My dedication to sales and customer service would be a good fit for your establishment. You can call me at (555) 555-5555 or email carla@email.com to discuss the position.

Sincerely,

Carla Tortelli
